KraftMaid, our goal is to be mindful of our environmental impact with every
step we take. All KraftMaid Cabinetry plants operate under an environmental
management system certified to ISO-14001:2004 standards. While ISO 14001
doesn’t exactly roll off of the tongue, it brings with it significant relevance
when talking about green manufacturing. ISO 14001 begins by specifying
requirements for establishing a company-wide environmental policy. Obviously,
this is an important first step for KraftMaid. ISO 14001 also requires
manufacturers to determine environmental aspects and impacts of products,
activities and services; plan environmental objectives and measurable targets,
implement and operate programs to meet objectives and targets, checks and
corrective actions; and management review.
The company also:
Meets or
exceeds the cabinetry requirements for inclusion in the Environments for
Living® Certified Green program
Is a
downstream licensed facility of the Composite Panel Association (CPA) and
Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) program, procuring at least 95% EPP
Certified particle board and using MDF which contains 100% recovered or
recycled wood fibers
Supports
the efforts of the U.S. Green Building Council as a corporate member.
